Re-creating Reviving and Utilizing Public Spaces
Project for Public Spaces
Amman, Wadi Mousa and Russeifah
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
This Activity is part of our Public Spaces Program; that focuses on Re-discovering abandoned and unused spaces around the kingdom especially in Amman, Wadi Mousa and Russeifah. This Activity aims at educating as well as providing recreation for the community and neighborhood. By discovering abandoned space, we tend to transform this place into a social, cultural and even sometimes a political hub to address problems, find solutions and making room for artistic interventions and social events to take place. This contributes to transforming and adding value to a Space that is only geographically present into a place that has special terrestrial qualities. We also raise the issue of making interventions in the most extra-ordinary places, like parking lots, sport fields, abandoned roundabouts, unused walls in the streets. All this compliments to the idea of rediscovering public spaces, engaging society members in our projects and providing a sustainability plan for continuity purposes.
Reviving public spaces project and activities provides comparative perspective on Social change in communities, framing cultures and mobilizing people. The project also helps shedding light on community behavior and practices, by giving out solutions and actual implementation of creative developing interventions. In addition to promoting cooperation that occurred between community members which influenced positive behavior in their surroundings and allowed positive behavior and practices to flourish, such as preserving their area and coming up with creative solutions for future development purposes.
